About the Milton Artists' Guild: The Milton Artists’ Guild began in 1988 as a small group of Milton, Vermont artists meeting in homes and studios to stay connected, collaborate, and support one another. As membership and annual shows grew, the Guild evolved and became a nonprofit in 2011.Due to the generosity and support of Ernie Pmomerleau in 2017, MAG opened its 6,000+ sq. ft. Art Center & Gallery at 199 US Route 7 South. Today, it showcases the work of more than 150 artists and serves as a vibrant community hub with permanent and rotating exhibits, meeting space, and a fully equipped workshop area offering classes for all ages.
About the Exhibit
Zines of Northern New England celebrates zinesters, zine-makers, self-publishers, and micropresses that are created in Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine.A zine (pronounced "zeen") is a self-published, small-circulation booklet that is typically photocopied, folded, and stapled by hand. Originating as "fanzines", they allow creators to bypass mainstream publishing to explore hyper-specific, independent topics.There is a wealth of talent throughout Northern New England, and having been involved in zine gatherings in all three states, curator Katherine Leung wanted to create a chance to bring some of her friends and fellow zinesters together here in Vermont for a three-month-long exhibit.
About the curator
Katherine Leung is a Vermont zinester, artist, organizer, and founder of Canto Cutie. Canto Cutie is a zine spanning more than ten volumes that showcases the work of Cantonese diasporic artists and writers, as well as a distro carrying the work of other Cantonese diasporic creators. It has distributed thousands of copies; been covered by Seven Days, the Burlington Free Press, and Vermont Public; and received funding from the New England Foundation for the Arts, the Vermont Arts Council, and National Arts Strategies, among other institutions.Katherine has tabled at numerous zine festivals across the US and Canada, and has spoken about independent publishing at Vermont Governor’s Institute on the Arts, Cleveland Institute of Art, the San Francisco Center for the Book, City College of San Francisco, San Diego Zine Fest, Tucson Zine Fest, and Albuquerque Zine Fest. She has facilitated numerous youth-led publishing initiatives, including Dream Magazine, an art and literature journal at Los Sueños Elementary; the annual coloring book at Hoover Middle School; and yearbook committees.
Exhibitor Information
Eligibility
You must live in Vermont, New Hampshire, or Maine.
Zines must be created by you and original to you.
You must be 18 or older to receive payment for sold zines.
Content Guidelines
Zines are displayed in a public gallery where children are present, so all submitted work must be appropriate for a general audience.
No mature, explicit, or graphic sexual content; no gratuitous violence or hate speech.

Exhibit Materials & Sale Copies
Your three display zines are shown for the full run of the exhibit and are not for sale.
Any copies you send to sell are separate from your three display zines, but should be the same or similar to the same titles on display.
Exhibit materials and unsold copies are only returned if you include packaging and a prepaid return label. Copies sent without a return label will not be mailed back.
Accepted zines must be postmarked by November 30, 2026 and mailed to: Katherine Leung, Zines of Northern New England, PO Box 278, Milton, VT 05468.
Cost and Earnings
A one-time $20 exhibit fee is due only upon acceptance: $10 to the Milton Artists' Guild for processing payments and $10 to Katherine Leung, the exhibit's curator. There is no cost to apply.
Artists receive 60% of each sale; MAG retains 40% to support its nonprofit operations.
You may send up to $999 worth of merchandise to sell. If everything sells, your earnings could reach $599. (I don’t recommend sending that much merchandise!)
Final payments are mailed by check by May 31, 2027.

Applications are open July 20 – August 31, 2026, and reviewed on a rolling basis through August 31, 2026.
You may be accepted with one, two, or all three of your submitted zines, at the curator's discretion.
If accepted, complete your exhibit materials and pay the $20 fee by October 30, 2026.
